In my opinion for a General Manager to achieve the business result in 2015 will need "maturity" in understanding the complexity of hospitality industry. Title inflation - a department head can now be recruited as a General Manager easily without any proper training - which is happening now, will not be a strategic recruitment process for a long run. Looking at the hotel operator in the table above, the number is getting bigger and so is the number of the hotel. If the competition that tight, the General Manager needs to understand pricing, revenue strategy, talent management and acquisition, as well as hotel maintenance for winning the market. So, if your organization has not invested in General Manager development program, I suggest you should consider it thoroughly now.(ade noerwenda)
