“Write the book you want to read”, a suggestion from Austin Kleon in his book Steal
Like an Artist (2012:42-43) has knocked my curiosity in what books that
I have written and wish to write about myself in the cyber space. With the googling culture today, it will be
very easy to trace our profile, our works, and our pictures. Put myself in 20 years’ time, what will my
grandchildren find about me? I am sure the same questions applied to you
too.
My 17 years-old daughter, cannot live without her IPhone and
spend most of her free time reading social media or on-line shopping sites. Path
is very popular among her friends now, because it is only for close friends,
easy to be used, updated the location, photos and their status instantly. Updating status, upload photos and put our
comments are the needs now. The ‘it’
thing. Sometimes people just write ridiculous or absurd status just for the
sake of updating.
Put cyberspace as our public library and goggle as the librarian.
When they search your name, what kind of information that you want them to find
about you? What kind of pictures that you want your grandchildren find about
you?
2015, I will write a new book about me, a book that I want
my grandchildren and great grandchildren to read and a book that I want my
fellow HR practitioners and tourism enthusiasts to read. I will write and post in all social media
account that I have, even though it is a challenge to remember all the login
and passwords, with the information that I want them to find about me.
Happy New Year 2015 for all of you and wish you great
success and prosperity. Thank you for
visiting my blog. (ade noerwenda)
